The Big and Middle sisters of the Three Sisters in the Cascade Mountain range, Oregon, as seen from the Dee Wright Observatory in the lava beds of the McKenzie Pass. The haziness at the base of the mountains was due to a forest fire that had occurred recently near Sisters, Oregon.

It's not so much the mountains that make this photograph work -- it's the rocks in the foreground. This is a volcanic landscape, and the rocks really give the viewer the impression of the violent history that made this place. Nicely done!! :) F/V
